Staff who work in a range of agencies that provide support to adults with care and support needs and are involved in safeguarding work.

  Aim :

To provide an introduction to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards to enable staff to recognise the key issues and triggers that may indicate a deprivation of liberty.

The course also explains the key terms and processes under DoLS.

  Learning Outcomes :
  • Understand how to identify a deprivation of liberty
  • Understand how and when a deprivation of liberty can be applied for and authorised
  • Be able to recognise the roles and responsibilities of the managing authority and supervisory body in the DoLS processes
  • Gain practical guidance on the completion of Form 1
  • Understand the relationship between assessing mental capacity, consent and Making Safeguarding Personal
