Solihull Safeguarding Adults Board provides free training and development opportunities to all partners, agencies and organisation that provide services to adults with care and support needs in Solihull.

The annual training plan focuses on priorities identified by the Board, national. Regional and local practice guidance, policies and procedures, learning from safeguarding adult reviews and audits

Training is designed to offer colleagues an opportunity to share experiences and improve their skills in operational practice and ensure that training and learning lead to a positive impact on competence and improve outcomes for adults with care and support needs.

Charging Policy for Non-Attendance

Demand for training courses is high and provided within a limited training budget to support the safeguarding practice of multi-agency staff.

Solihull Safeguarding Adults Board has agreed from 1st April 2017 a charge for non-attendance will be made.

Someone will be deemed as not–attending if a delegate does not attend a course on which they are booked, and where 48 hours’ notice, (i.e. two working days), by email to has not been received. A substituted person attending is acceptable and will not incur a charge.

The charge for non-attendance for 2017-18 will be:
  • £40.00 for a half day training session.
  • £80.00 for a full days training session.

Exceptions will be made in exceptional circumstances only, at the discretion of the SSAB.

In the event of agencies repeatedly not attending courses, their access to training provision will be restricted in order to protect limited resources.

SSAB will assume the submission of the course booking to the SSAB team as:
  • Authorisation that an individual’s manager has agreed to their attendance.
  • A formal commitment by an agency to attend training
  • Agreement with Solihull safeguarding Adult Boards Charging Policy for non-attendance as detailed above.
